Developing My Leadership Skills
As I approach the end of my undergraduate studies, I reflect on experiences that have shaped my leadership skills. This page showcases three key artifacts that highlight my imporvement and growth in leadership: being a part of the Honors College Student Council, serving as Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for the Undergraduate Student Government, and growing into President of Jagathon 2025. Together, these experiences have equipped me with critical skills both personally and professionally, he which will contribute to me growing in my career as a Business Analyst.
Junior Representative - Honors College Student Council (HCSC)
I joined this organization in Fall 2023 which was the same year in which I joined the Honors College. As a Honors Student, I wanted to help solving problems that students were facing thoughout the year. This organization allowed me to join meetings in which I would voice the concerns brought up by the Honors College Junior class. As an Executive Board, we were responsible for brainstorming ways to make the experience of an Honors College student less stresfull and more rewarding.
Director of DEI - Undergraduate Student Government
I joined USG when I was a sophomore in college as a DEI Committee Member. Then, on Fall 2023 to Spring 2024, I served as Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in which I was able to implement new DEI initiatives on campus to make students more wlecomed and included. Throughout the year, I had 4 committee members which I mentored and saw grow on their own positions and activities.
During my time as a Director, I also plan and executed the Unity Brunch which is an event with the purpose of bringing students together from multiple backgrounds to discuss what can be done to make our campus more welcoming for all. This was a very insightful event because I was able to learn from different students and faculty what were the main reasons they did not feel welcomed on some activities or areas on campus.
Jagathon 2025 President
Serving as the President of Jagathon 2025 has been one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences of my college career. Leading a team of 28 executive board members, managing weekly meetings, and overseeing the strategic direction of the organization have not only refined my leadership skills but also deepened my passion for problem-solving, collaboration, and making an impact.
From the moment I stepped into this role, I knew it would require patience, adaptability, and resilience. Balancing the demands of fundraising, event planning, and team dynamics pushed me to become more structured and intentional in my leadership. I learned the importance of clear communication, conflict resolution, and, most importantly, fostering a culture of support and accountability within the team.
One of the most fulfilling aspects of my time in Jagathon has been seeing the dedication of the executive board and our participants come to life. The energy and commitment of those around me constantly reminded me of the greater purpose behind our work—supporting Riley Hospital for Children and making a difference in the lives of countless families. Witnessing the passion of my peers and celebrating our collective achievements reaffirmed why I joined this organization in the first place.
Of course, this journey wasn’t without its challenges. There were moments of uncertainty, difficult decisions to make, and obstacles that tested my ability to stay composed under pressure. However, each of these experiences only strengthened my ability to lead effectively. I grew in my confidence as a decision-maker and found myself embracing challenges rather than fearing them.
As I look back on my time in Jagathon, I feel immense gratitude for the lessons I’ve learned, the people I’ve worked with, and the growth I’ve experienced. This role has prepared me for future leadership positions and has given me skills that will extend far beyond my time in college. More than anything, it has shown me the power of teamwork, dedication, and the impact that passionate individuals can create when working toward a shared mission.
Jagathon will always hold a special place in my heart, not just as an organization, but as a transformative experience that shaped me into the leader I am today.
